gvSIG geoResources
The regional government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) used gvSIG as it's GIS desktop tool and their technicians used gvSIG to access dozens of geographical layers. The usual way to load layers on gvSIG had some difficulties because the sources are multiple and discovering them is not always easy.
In 2010, Prodevelop in the framework of gvSIG Association, developed an extension called geoResources for the Computer Service of the Public and Heritage Ministry of the region of Andalucía. The geoResources extension for gvSIG Desktop allows to store and organize local and remote data. The resources are included in a hierarchical tree of categories and have some metadata to let the user to filter and search over his collection easily. This project has been allocated in the OSOR Repository.
By the use of this extension, the technicians have a tool that makes easy to filter and search geospatial information through its metadata. As the the geographical is well localized, there is no waste of time and resources looking for that and all the organization take into account the same geospatial information for decision making process.
