Situation: 

Migration to Java code of a graphical application developed in Delfi suitable for releasing of thematic charts.

Solution: 

gvSIG platform was chosen as a base application, which will be customized to suit final users demands. Specific stress in the application was to exploit the scripting capabilities of gvSIG and its Python console. In final solution each GUI action performed by user is covered with appropriate scripting code.

Benefits: 

CarThema5.0 added several improvements over previous versions of this application:

  • Code is migrated to Java, and application is now open source, with code suitable for further development and integration with new versions of gvSIG code.
  • Custom-made scripting language used in previous versions is now replaced with Python syntax
  • Application is independent of operating system (works on Windows, Linux and OSX environment)
